Former NFL linebacker Desmond Bishop was a fixture at Southern Utah practices this week and was pacing the sidelines for the T-Birds’ first win of the season over Southeastern Louisiana.
Bishop, who won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers, wasn’t trying to teach, he was trying to learn.
Bishop was high school teammates with SUU head coach Demario Warren and wanted to get a firsthand look at what coaching was all about.
“He’s trying to get into coaching,” Warren said. “So he wanted to see what a game week was like, what a game was like, so he’s just hanging out.”
But while he was in Cedar City mostly to take in knowledge, it was only natural he shared some as well.
“A lot of guys that have (NFL) aspirations have been asking him questions,” Warren said. “So it’s been good to have so much knowledge of how to get there.”
